Hi, I’m Tiggs, the maker behind Handmade by Tiggs.

I discovered ceramics at 14 while attending a local community pottery studio through my journey of being home-educated and it quickly became something I couldn’t step away from. There is something deeply satisfying about working with clay. No matter the day, sitting at the wheel brings a sense of focus and calm.

What fascinates me most about ceramics is the meeting point between art and science. Clay is such a natural material, something we walk on every day, yet through form, glaze and heat it can be transformed into objects that are both functional and meaningful. I am particularly drawn to glaze chemistry and the way small changes in materials and firing can create entirely different surfaces and colours.

My work focuses on balance, proportion and quiet surface detail. I enjoy making functional ceramics that feel thoughtful and well considered, pieces designed to be used and lived with rather than simply displayed.

Alongside developing my practice, I am currently studying 3D and Mixed Media Design, specialising in ceramics, where i continue to explore different materials and processes including glass, metal and digital fabrication. This has helped me expand my understanding of form, making and design while strengthening my ceramic skills.

You can find my work at local craft fairs and galleries, including The Ferrers Gallery, where I sell and take on commissions. Handmade by Tiggs is the beginning of a long-term ambition to build a sustainable career in ceramics, continuing to refine my technical skills while developing my own creative voice.

Every piece I make is shaped by hand, carefully finished and fired with the intention that it will be used, appreciated and last for years to come.
